Why this is a big deal

Until today, buying $WUD meant learning Polkadot first: a new wallet, a new network, new apps. Most people never made it that far. Base changes that. It is Coinbase's own network and one of the busiest in crypto, and its community can now reach $WUD with the apps they already use.

• The Base app. Formerly Coinbase Wallet. Search $WUD or paste the contract and buy it with ETH on Base, anywhere in the world.
• The Coinbase app. In the US, Base tokens can be bought directly in the Coinbase app.
• Uniswap. The $WUD/WETH pool on Base is open to any Base wallet.

Polkadot stays home. $WUD was born on Polkadot in April 2024 and it lives there still. Base is a new door into the same world, and the bridge works both ways.

One signature, two bridges

Getting from Polkadot to Base used to mean several apps, several wallets and several fees. Now it's one signature on Polkadot Asset Hub. Two proven bridges do the rest, back to back:

1. Snowbridge V2 carries your $WUD from Polkadot to Ethereum, proven by light clients on both sides. You pay the fee in $DOT, shown before you sign.
2. Our route contract on Ethereum receives it and, in the same transaction, passes it straight into the Wormhole bridge, addressed to you on Base.
3. Wormhole NTT carries it to Base once 13 of Wormhole's 19 guardians confirm it. One small Base transaction, less than a cent in ETH, delivers it to your wallet.

It usually takes 30 to 60 minutes from start to finish. Nothing is lost while it travels: every step is recorded on chain and can always be completed later. The way back to Polkadot is a few guided steps on the same page.

No keys. Nobody in control.

This is the part we're proudest of. We built it so that nobody, us included, can touch your $WUD.

• The team holds no admin keys. Not on Base, not on Ethereum, not on the bridge.
• $WUD on Base is renounced. Its only minter is the bridge itself, and it can only mint when the same amount is locked on Ethereum.
• The bridge belongs to Wormhole governance. Its keys were handed to Wormhole's governance contracts, so only a supermajority of Wormhole's guardians can pause or upgrade it, the same as every Wormhole token.
• Native $WUD has had no admin since April 2024. That never changes.

Fully backed, and you can check it

$WUD on Base is not a copy. All 2.5 billion $WUD on Base are matched one for one by $WUD locked in the bridge on Ethereum, and new $WUD only appears on Base when more arrives from Polkadot. The bridge page reads the backing live from Ethereum and Base every time you open it, with a link to check it yourself on Etherscan.

Earn with the pool

Anyone can add $WUD and ETH to the Uniswap pool on Base, right from the bridge page. Every trade inside your price range pays the 1% pool fee to the positions that cover it. Your position is yours: collect fees or withdraw all of it whenever you like, from our page or from Uniswap. The team's original pool positions are permanently locked in the pool, so they can never be pulled.

You don't even need our website

gavunwud.com makes it easy, but it's never a gatekeeper. Everything runs on public contracts and official apps: the Snowbridge app moves $WUD between Polkadot and Ethereum, Uniswap's own app handles swaps and liquidity, and anyone can use the bridge contracts directly from Etherscan and Basescan. Built carefully, verified everywhere

The whole setup was rehearsed end to end before launch, and every contract is open and verified on Etherscan, Basescan and Sourcify, so anyone can read exactly what it does. The full list of official contracts is on the bridge page.

Stay safe
