Polkadot Asset Hub
Polkadot Asset Hub is the chain where your DOT and Polkadot's tokens live. It started as the home for assets like USDT, USDC and $WUD, and since November 2025 it also holds everyone's DOT balances.
UpdatedThe 2025 migration
On November 4, 2025, Polkadot moved everyday user activity from the Relay Chain to Asset Hub: DOT balances, staking and governance. About 1.6 billion DOT across roughly 1.5 million accounts moved over in a few hours, and nobody had to do anything. The Relay Chain now focuses on security and coordination, while Asset Hub is where people hold and use their tokens.
$WUD on Asset Hub
$WUD is asset 31337 on Polkadot Asset Hub. This is where it was created, and where 221,000+ accounts hold it, the third most of any asset on the chain. Its admin keys were burned, so no one can change it.
You can swap $WUD on Asset Hub's own WUD/DOT pool, or move it to Hydration for the deepest market. The Trade page does both, and its Cross-chain tab moves DOT, USDT, USDC and $WUD between the two chains in one step.
Tips
- Keep about 0.1 DOT on Asset Hub. It pays fees and keeps your account above the minimum.
- Exchanges send DOT here. When you withdraw DOT from an exchange to your Polkadot address, it arrives on Asset Hub.
- Same account, different format. Your Asset Hub address starts with 1. The same account on Hydration starts with 7.
Questions people ask
What is Polkadot Asset Hub?
Polkadot Asset Hub is the Polkadot chain where DOT balances and tokens such as USDT, USDC and $WUD live. Since November 4, 2025 it also handles staking and governance.
Did I need to move my DOT to Asset Hub?
No. The November 2025 migration moved balances automatically. If you hold DOT today, it is on Asset Hub.
What is the minimum DOT balance on Asset Hub?
0.01 DOT. It used to be 1 DOT on the Relay Chain. Keeping about 0.1 DOT is a good habit so you can always pay fees.
